Medicinal Plants San Marco is a certified organic farm specializing in growing, processing and transformation of aromatic and medicinal plants but also barley, pulses and oilseeds. And 'situated in the town of Asciano on the ancient Via Loreto, route of artists and pilgrims in the picturesque landscape of the Crete Senesi, a few kilometers from Siena. The idea of a company engaged exclusively in the cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants was established in 2009. A choice dictated by the desire to shop around to find alternatives to traditional crops, especially cereals in the area, making good use of the resources offered by the area the Crete Senesi.

The company covers an area of 21 hectares, of which 7 hectares devoted to the cultivation of medicinal herbs: sage, oregano, thyme, hyssop, St. John's wort, mallow, rosemary, yarrow, vervain, and saffron and 10 acres devoted to agriculture aromatic extensive such as fennel, flax, besides the traditional crop rotation: Spelt (einkorn and dicoco), white oats, berseem and legumes. Finally, 4 acres of wooded land.

The herbs are grown directly on our land to protect the environment by organic methods and are intended for processing for different applications including company has therefore designed and built a laboratory in accordance with HACCP * (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) with technological systems for sorting, cleaning and cutting of dried herbs and other dry goods such as cereals, vegetables and saffron. The fitting of H.A.C.C.P. allows, in fact, prevent the emergence of risks associated with food safety. It is based on monitoring of each stage of the production process and of the subsequent phases such as storage, transport, storage until sale to the consumer, which suggests a risk of contamination of both biological and chemical physics is putting the 'accent food quality, particularly with regard to health and safety.
