STRUCTURE DESCRIPTION
The farmhouse “ La Roverella” is named after the big oak ( Quercus Robur), which borders the receptive structure, used in the past as a granary and vinsanto area. Because of its position in the middle of the farm, sometimes you can be present at the seasonal agricultural works, like the grapevines’ pruning, the vintage, the drawing off, the olives’ collecting, the sowing of corn, the reaping, and everything that the country art and culture, with labour, enthusiasm, has handed down until nowadays, cadenced by seasons. The wine shops allows the tourist to appreciate, taste and buy extra-virgin olive oil, IGT and DOCG wine and see agricultural implements, historic photos of our small farm, born in 1967. Going through a country road ( 700 metres) which runs along the vineyards, you can reach the top of “ Poggio Tondo”, where you can admire a wonderful view of Siena and the surrounding landscape, like the Val d’Arbia, becoming aware of the wonder of famous Crete Senesi. This small town counts about 500 inhabitants: there is a supermarket, a post office, a medical surgery, a wonderful Romanesque Church, restaurant. Its chief town is Monteroni d’ Arbia and it is only 9 km far, crossed by the via Francigena ( Cassia) and the Arbia’ s river ( named by Dante Alighieri).
