The Pro Loco di Asciano was established in 1966
on the initiative of the
Mayor Osvaldo Vegni and some citizens, they had set
themselves the aim of enhancing
the natural,
artistic, and
industrial, craft and
agricultural site.
Initially, the Board of Directors consisted of eight members and the Mayor in charge but, June 14, 1993 by deed of Notary Maria Patrizia Bersotti was amended the Articles to uplift, to broaden participation, the number of members of the Board of Directors to twenty-one always including the Mayor in charge.
Over the years, the Association's activity was measured with a variety of challenging promotions:
- The "Golden Garbo"
- The Supper of Menciaioli
- The Exhibition Ascanese
- Exhibitions and Covegni of Agriculture and Livestock
- The market of the Crete Senesi
- Carnival Asciano
- The promotion and support of "Nature Train"
Of all these activities, the more meritorious and success has been, in the past, the organization and management of the Exhibition Asciano.
Today, the most significant and meritorious commitments are, of course the Carnival and the Market of Crete.
This association is run on a voluntary basis, is certainly one of the most active and participative Asciano and often takes care of support and coordinate efforts by other local associations
The historical site dellla Proloco is significantly located in adjacent rooms "THE CIVIC TOWER", known as the "MENCIA."
